Sunny Lymm leaves Woody Homeless!

It was a wonderfully sunny start to the new season at Lymm on Monday the 5th of March and I think the 25 members and guests who turned out to play thoroughly enjoyed shaking away the off season rust on such a beautiful early spring day.

Apart from the weather being kind to us so were the staff at Lymm who I would like to thank for making our day and first trip there a really nice experience, Steve the Pro said it was a pleasure having us there and said we would be welcome to go back anytime, always nice when the society receives a thank you from the course in return.

The course was in really good condition given the time of year with only one winter green being in play, just a shame we had to play from the first cut every time your ball hit the fairway and I do believe that had a detrimental overall effect on the final scores but I suppose that’s winter golf for you!

The food was excellent too, top bacon butties to start the day with and a lovely chilli rice and chips followed by a really nice fruit crumble to finish it with, thanks to Karen and her team for looking after us in that area.

Well done to all the winners on the day, including Dennis who having won Woody refused to take him home, having some lame excuse about the dog ripping him to bit’s, yeah right! So Woody is now lodging at Tippy’s for the next four weeks and he’s not overly impressed about it as he’s been there all off season and fancied a change, I will say though that Woody has never been so keenly contested for in the past, with a three way card count back deciding on his first foster dad of the season, so don’t feel too bad Den you weren’t on your own mate.

The winners of the comp were in reverse order;

3rd Ricky Pennington with 26 points off a handicap of scratch (although this was contested by Barry Rickards who reckons he took 3rd on a card playoff and we are awaiting the decision of the card checker and handicap secretary JC )
2nd Ernie with 28 points off a handicap of 28
1st P Greenwood with 30 points off a handicap of 23

Well done to all of you and see you all at Woolton on the 2nd of April.

Mr Secretary.
