Beacon Park

Tuesday, May 13 2014

Beacon Park Golf Centre is a well maintained golfing facility located right in the heart of West Lancashire.

When Donald Steel and Sir Michael Bonallack played the very first round of golf at Beacon Park Golf & Country Club in the summer of 1982 a little piece of history was added to the annals of Historic Upholland.

Since designing this wonderful 18 hole par 72 course, set in the Lancashire countryside, Donald Steel has gone on to establish a reputation as one of the foremost links and traditional style golf course architects in the world.

His emphasis on top quality, based on technical and academic knowledge and attention to detail, combined with his philosophy of minimising earth movement and the blending of a course layout into its natural surroundings are Steels hallmarks and this Lancashire course really is a Beacon to his style of work, every hole has been thoughtfully sculpted to take maximum advantage of the natural terrain.

Beacon Park holds a myriad of secrets, the answers to which can only be discovered by familiarisation with the course, so if you have a passion for the game of golf you should indulge that passion with a visit, or a revisit, if it is a while since you last played the course.

On arrival there will be bacon butties and coffee so please be there for around 09:00 followed by 18 holes of golf, first tee off is 10:00 In addition we ask that you read and observe the dress code to ensure that our visit runs smoothly.

The meal is back at the club between 17:00 – 17:30 (see the dates section on the website for menu details) followed by the presentation PLEASE try to be there on time and anyone who cannot attend after the golf let me know beforehand.

Oh! And the weather, the moral of golfing in Britain is that you will be screwed by the weather!

Fourballs will be posted on the website on Friday 16th May. Please see the list below for those attending, if you’re on the list and can’t make it or if you’re not on the list and would like to attend please let me know ASAP.
