NWGA RAINFORD

The North West National 18 hole course is set in 260 acres of quiet natural parkland with a heathland feel to parts of which native gorse grows throughout.  Natural water features form part of the layout which brings wildlife to the forefront of this wonderful landscape.

Tight but fair well manicured and shaped fairways based on a well drained sand bed which should ensure all year round golf. Four challenging Par 5’s, four well layed out and picturesque Par 3’s and ten good length Par 4’s make up the 7000 plus yard course.

Originally the site of Pottery Farm, Rainford, Lancashire, a successful family farming business for some 100 years, which then came to a natural end in the third millenium due to the changes in the farming industry, planning permission for a golf complex was sought in 2006 and opened in 2010.

Martin Turner, (founder and owner), came to this development following on to his first design and construction of a golf course complex at Charnock Richard Golf Club, where he utilised a flat farmland site of 160 acres to develop a parkland course of 6,100 yards along with the building of members’ facilities, separate function room and Italian restaurant.

The site at Rainford offered an area of already existing natural beauty to which Martin added numerous features and extended waterways to maximise the potential of the site to provide an undulating course of 7,104 yards full of challenging golf.
